Some size comparison (knights and fliers)

By thegravemind

When the knights first came out I was trying to do a little research on them, and the leviathan sale had just ended as well. I was getting frustrated cause it has been surprisingly difficult to find a side by side. Newbreed had gotten some of each, and so I recently jumped on the chance to take some pictures.

Full details over at Advanced Tau tactica, Pictures of the finecast Tau commander suit have finally come up. The enforcer version of XV8 I believe. More pictures of drones and the bomber have also been found.

And so it begins!

It is a not so secret secret that I'm starting tau. Well, I just got a bunch of second hand models. like... a lot. Part of it I got from a friend, the other half I bought. Pretty much more than enough for almost anything I want, all for $70. Granted most of the fish are in bad condition and need to be salvaged. Most of the suits will be enough to hold me over till I buy my own. I have more stealth suits than I can actually field. My plan is to start working on some conversions, and based on how they go, I'll buy some new stuff and prepare for a new codex soon.
I'm working on fluff and back story for them at the moment. I'm most likely going with Da'Kavaal (The Dark Strike Force)

Some painted Tyranids

I decided for a change of pace from the blood angels. Here are some of my favorite Tyranids I've been working on. This is a lictor I painted some time ago. I think it was shortly after the Nid codex came out. I'm pretty proud of him. Picture's a little dark but I put a good amount of detail into him. I normally use him as Death leaper. I had some extra eldar bitz some how, and I put them to good use.

Sacrifice to Khorne

I personally hate the Khorne bezerker models. Their poses make them look like they are dancing the robot, and they wear the bunny ears of doom helmets. In my chaos army, I enjoy their stats and effects, but my army is not demon worshiping, so they'll be elite assault units. Or for normal marines they are just Assault marines. Either way they needed to be less korny.

Adding a little character

My Chosen Chaos Marines. Nine veterans elite, five with plasma guns.

This past week I've been playing my newly formed Chaos company. My last few Tyranids are on the painting table, and they may be the topic of my next post, we'll see. Looking at the differences between these two armies, something hit me. I actually enjoy assembling my Chaos marines. For the nids the bodies are pretty much set, and there are almost no variance in the head, all you get to change is the position of the arms. With two sets of arms, there is limited room for cool poses, unless you fully plan it out. Not to mention that each Space marine can essentially be equipped differently, and have cool accessory pieces. All tyranids in a squad are equipped the same, and even if I decorate them, they are just a mutation, nothing more.
And so I realized, my CSM can actually have character and personality.
