My first Tau list
So it is my last day in Germany, and I have secured myself some internet for the time being. I have some things I need to upload, but those will wait till I get back home. I have been reading over the Tau codex, and I have thought about what I want to use.

This should come to 1498 points.
The other option is to play the standard Tau list which would take out the stealth team, add in three Deathrain suits, and beef the pathfinders up to 8 strong. I understand this is probably the better way to go, but I generally don't like the Crisis suit models, while I love the 3rd edition stealth suits.
With this in mind, I feel I now have a goal to work towards and I will hopefully start working on models sometime soon. expect updates.

Granted I'm not the best of players, but I've yet to hear a single Tau player actually have good things to say about the Stealth Suits above 1000 points. The shooting is just too unreliable and the points just too high.
ReplyDeleteOn that same topic I may have missed it, but I noticed only one Devilfish and only two scoring units? If you're playing to win by always wiping out your opponent that's good, but unless you park one FW team behind some very solid cover and the other in the DF you will see it obliterated - quickly.
For the 180 points you've spent on the Stealth team you can buy a DF for your firewarriors and still have points left over (Maybe kroot/IG models "counts as" kroot? I dunno).
If all else, toss it together and take it to a game store - the holes will appear quickly in play for your playstyle.
I really enjoy Stealth Suits; lots of fun that can be had with them.
ReplyDeleteThe main worry for me here are the small, walking fire warriors. It may well be worth sacrificing the pathfinders to give the FW squads devilfish.
I'd also suggest splitting the piranha up so you can harass two areas at once.
Yes, there is only one devil fish. I'm hoping it isn't too much of a problem, but test games will show how badly I need one.
ReplyDeleteI probably will split the piranhas up, I just didn't think of it when writing the list.
Thanks for the suggestions guys!
The second FW squad (the one not in a devilfish), should always reserve, so it can't be attacked, and move onto your home objective in C&C. It doesn't really need a transport. Devilfish are 85 points that don't kill anything. They can be used to block as a last ditch effort, but those 85 points are better spent on something that can actually kill the enemy.
